"For people in their golden years, it's helpful to give them a chance to interact close to home where they are familiar with. This brings about the importance of community support - for people to age in place, as we cannot just rely on family alone. We need neighbours, community befrienders, senior centres. To have community chiefs to rally others to help fellow seniors. And to create micro jobs in the community for them to participate. We need to help to refresh seniors with the new technologies of the world, to bring them closer to intergenerational activities, give them community support, bring their family onboard, and let people feel that they are part of the process, as we do it together."

Ms Cheryl Chan, Vice-Chairman of East Coast Town Council, Member of Parliament for East Coast GRC, Singapore
