About this Speaker

Dr Kelvin Tan is a faculty member in the Singapore University of Social Science (SUSS). He holds a PhD in Gerontology with The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and lectures in the SUSS Master/PhD program. His research topics are assistive technologies for seniors and the healthcare sector. His recent joint publications include innovations for CVD patients with Bayer in Asia Pac and Social Humanoid Robots for dementia seniors with HKU Sao Po Center on Ageing.


Previously, he was the Director, Corporate Partnerships, NUS Enterprise. He spearheaded innovation and transformation initiatives with government agencies, corporates and startups. Some key initiatives: innovfest unbound, Modern Ageing business accelerator, Loreal Startup Runway, SIA App Challenge and Bayer Grants4App. Through strategic alliances with leading universities, accelerators and co-creation partners, the startup ecosystem has been invigorated. He was also the Business Development Director in NUS Smart Systems Institute in charge of technology translation to commercialization.


He has co-founded a startup in video streaming technologies for smart devices, invested in education business, led the Kodak franchise in Spore and held regional management positions in IT/Telecommunications, media industries . His career spanned across diverse roles in technical, consumer engagements, strategic alliances, sales/marketing and entrepreneurship in Compaq, HP, AT&T, ServTouch Wywy, M1 Singapore, Telecoms Authority of Spore and NUS.
